Fruitstock
What are you all doing the first weekend in August? If you are in the London area and looking for something fun to do then check out Fruitstock, the Innocent drinks festival in Regents Park. HipKnits are one of the sponsers of this festival and we will be in the relaxation area equipped with yarn, needles, deck chairs and umbrellas encouraging people to stop by and knit a hat for the Innocent Supergran project. There is no excuse to leave without knitting a hat as we'll be happy to teach you if you can't knit, bring along your needles and yarn or use some that we'll have available and join us for a relaxing knitting session in Regents Park. What better way to spend your weekend? If you look at the fruitstock website you'll notice that Innocent are asking people to bake cakes to bring along for their cake stand, I'm planning to knit them some tea cosies to take along just for a laugh.
If you haven't looked at the Innocent website recently you really should. They are so funny and such lovely people. Its been a pleasure working with them on Fruitstock and I cant wait for 2 days of relaxing and knitting in the park.

New things
We've been busy over at HipKnits dyeing lots of pretty things for you. Here are some of the aran weight silk colours and also some merino / silk fibre. Yum.
We're going to be getting all the fibre on the site for an early August update and offering a free copy of Heidi from my paper crane's Spin Spin zine with each 100g plait of fibre. Now you have no excuses not to learn to spin!

I need your advice
We're currently trying to work out the best way to sell our HipKnits yarns so that the colours are displayed accurately, customers find it easy to work with the yarn and we are not spending any more time than we need to repeating the same job over and over again.
Will you take a min to place your votes? I will seriously listen to every single one of you who wants to leave a comment, send me an email or vote here. Thank you so much.
xx

New sofa

One of the lovely ladies that works at the shop just happened to mention that she was throwing out a perfectly good 2 seater sofa as she had a new one coming and didn't have room for the old one. That happened just a couple of days after I was looking at our budget and working out if we could afford to buy a couple of armchairs for the shop as it gets a little crowded on knitting club nights sometimes. Perfect timing or what?
So last week Mandy and Emma turned up in a borrowed van with sofa and some bonus shelves in the back and we had a good old rearrange of the shop. I love this corner, its been rearranged even more now but its the perfect place to come and sit down and relax. I love to see customers who stay a while and sit and knit at the same time, it makes it all worthwhile!
