Aran silk colours

bracken.jpg

There are lots of lovely aran silk colours on the site today, my favourite is Bracken (shown above) which was originally dyed as a custom order for someone and we loved it enough to make it part of our standard range. It's great when that happens.

I also added lots and lots of new laceweight cashmere to the page, it is so hard to choose a favourite but I think that Damson pudding has to beat the others for me. I love the pinks, purples and custardy yellows all mixed up together. This would make a beautiful cropped lace cardigan, don't you think?

New cashmere sock yarn

blogbee.jpg

I'm such a child! To be as excited as I am over this new colour of cashmere sock yarn is quite silly really but I do love it. Named bumblebee (what else?) its only going to be available for sale here on the blog. Usual price of £16 plus postage. Email me if you're interested in knitting up some striped bumble bee socks and I'll reserve you a skein. There are only 5 of them in the world and I have no plans to dye any more for a while so snap one up while you can.

Not impressed

We have some serious website problems here that need to be resolved this morning. HipKnits domain expired yesterday and after lots of conversations with the support team about how to renew it under my own account details (where this site, yarn forward mag and various other bits are registered) I followed their instructions to the letter.

I now find myself with a domain that doesn't work. No emails in my inbox and a support team who tell me that I didn't follow the correct procedure and its out of their hands. If I could get into my emails I would be able to show them their email telling me to do what I did but of course I can't.

Their suggested solution at the moment is just to rebuild the site and forget about the 50 or so emails I had in my inbox. How helpful is that? The emails were to remind me to do things, people to chase up, customers to add to the newsletter list, orders to place with suppliers. Not impressed to have lost them all. Not impressed with being told to "just" rebuild the site. Even less impressed with being told that there is no way I can phone them or they can phone me, all communication has to be done via email.

All the time this is going on, I'm losing money and probably customers as well. Did I say that I am not impressed with the whole thing? Lets hope that by some miracle it all gets fixed this morning otherwise I can feel my blood pressure beginning to rise and that's not going to be good for anyone.

New sock yarns

basketofyuum.jpg

I love big baskets full of brightly coloured yarn, don't you? This is the new superwash sock yarn in fingering and dk weights that went on the site last week. It is the softest most gorgeous Louet yarn ever, the fingering weight is the same base yarn that Koigu dye I believe and I'm sorely tempted to keep it all for myself!

Contest Winners

contestwinners.jpg

Finally, some pictures of the HipKnits contest winners.

First place was given to the teddy bear in a carry cot with his own blanket and little teeny tiny teddy, knitted by M Rowlands.

Second place went to the mermaid scene knitted by Donna Osbourne.

Third place went to the beach scene complete with knitted parasol, knitted by Shirley Downey.

Around 30 of the entries were on display in the West Hall at Ally Pally last week, they looked lovely! Thanks to everyone who entered the contest, we have a new idea for next year's contest details of which will be announced in the new year.
