Big site update

elainecherrygreen.jpg

elainebrightgreenblueturq.jpg

Phew, I just spent this morning taking photos of all the new yarn we have in the shop. Having uploaded them all I had a quick count and realised that there are over 100 items to go on the site! Now, that is going to take me a little while to upload so lets say that the site will be updated next week Monday at 3pm UK time. An email will go out to the newsletter when it is live, many of the items are sale items at nice big discounts so check back soon. We have the last of our Schaeffer bulky yarns (see pics above) and a few skeins of Anne sock yarn at a discount price, we're also picking up 10 kilos of new colours of Anne sock yarn tomorrow so you can expect to see them sometime soon.

I'll also be offering another 10% off discount day to newsletter members on the 1st March which is next Wednesday so if you're not already on our newsletter list it would be a good idea to drop me an email and get yourself added.

Help no longer needed

Edited to add - wow! Thanks so much guys, I had over 20 offers of help within 2 hours of posting this plea. I've replied to everyone who emailed me and lots of cones of yarn have gone out in the post today, more are packaged up for tomorrow and someone very local to me offered so they will be popping in to the shop to pick up the yarn. Woo Hoo! You guys rock, thanks.

It seems that everyone loves the self striping sock yarn! I've wound and dyed over 40 skeins of it in the last few weeks and as much as I love to see how it looks knitted up it really is time consuming to make. The last few skeins of it are going out in the post over the next few days so if you are waiting for an order of self striping yarn, you won't have to wait too much longer.

As I'm sorting out details of how the business is going to run over the next few months while I'm on maternity leave I've been worrying a lot about the self striping sock yarn more than anything. I know that I won't have the time to wind the skeins myself for the next few months. I've roped in so many members of the family and friends to help with dyeing yarn and posting orders etc that I probably can't persuade any of them to wind up giant skeins of yarn for me.

This is where you guys come in... Anyone fancy earning themselves a little bit of cash, some free yarn and my everlasting gratitude?

The offer is that I will send you via Royal Mail special delivery a package containing the following :

- A cone of yarn weighing around 1 kilo.
- Full instructions as to how to wind the HUGE skeins.
- A pre paid return address envelope.
- A HipKnits voucher code for £20 worth of any HipKnits yarns. This can be used as part of a large order or on its own.

All that I ask is that you send me back in the pre paid envelope 10 skeins that I can dye into self striping sock yarn. In addition to the £20 voucher you can also choose to have 1 skein of the self stripe dyed IN ANY COLOURS and returned to you or £15 paypal payment. It's up to you.

Other information - I would need the turnaround time to be around 1 - 2 weeks from me sending the cone to receiving the skeins. It takes me around 12 minutes to wind 1 skein so you're looking at a couple of hours work. The only equipment you will need is 2 chairs and a space measuring around 18 foot - I tend to use our hall! This is really only open to UK people initially due to the cost of postage and turnaround time required although if you are outside of the UK and desperate to play making big skeins, send me an email and I'll see what we can work out.

So, if you're interested please email me at INFO @ hipknits . co . uk

xx

Yarn on its way to Sweden

lacecashwholesale.jpg

Yummy laceweight cashmere on its way over to Garnkorgen in Sweden this week. I wound some smaller skeins than I usually do for the shop and I love the way they look, so cute. There is also lots of aran and lace weight silk on its way over to them now as well.

There are a few new colours of laceweight cashmere on the site today. Basically I've been adding 1 or 2 skeins to the pot every time I dye for a custom or wholesale order.

Just the one new colour of sock cashmere for today, there is lots more coming next week though.

Project Spectrum

ps1.jpg

The Project Spectrum yarn went out yesterday after a cold and miserable few days slowed up the drying process. I did an extra skein for myself, now - should I make socks or a scarf out of it?

New Photos

Here's a question for you. What do you think about this photo of a new colour yarn that we're offering? Personally I love the colour, bright and bold and beautiful. I want cashmere socks in this colour, don't you?

I'm experimenting with different ways to take photos of the yarn and I quite like this one. Am I the only one though? Do you prefer pics like this or the ones on our colour page at the moment?
