New Rowan

My new Rowan mag arrived yesterday. I usually sit down and go through the whole book without being very impressed at first glance. Then after a few minutes I look through it again and always change my mind and decide that I love some of the designs after all.

This one is full of kid classic and kid silk haze patterns. You can see a preview of the designs here if you are interested. I'll be making Karis and Yves for sure as Christmas presents from my stash and also a gorgeous pair of long gloves that are not shown here. All in all its a pretty interesting magazine I think.

I also like the look of a lot of the designs in this new Big Wool etc magazine. I think I'll be buying that soon, I have so much super chunky wool in my stash that I can use up on some of these projects..

Miss Bea's Seaside

Its funny, I usually look at the Miss Bea books and love what other people make from them but when it comes to buying the books, I'm just not inspired. Until now that is. I was flicking through Miss Bea's seaside in John Lewis the other day and realised that I would make most of the patterns from it. So I bought it!

I started the rope sweater, which is the one shown in white with the 3 cables down the front. I'm only 2 or 3 inches into the back but its a nice easy knit at the moment. When I'm making sweaters I like to start with the back, then work one sleeve, then the front so that I can block / seam as I go and by the time I'm working on the last sleeve I have a nearly put together sweater to inspire me to keep going through that well known sleeve hell!

That's what I've done with Giboulees. The front / back and first sleeve spent yesterday blocking in the sunshine in the garden and I seamed them last night. I decided to wet block and try and stretch out the fabric as much as I could as it was lookig a little short. I pinned it out on a picnic blanket (wrong side up so that it wouldn't fade) and left it out in the sun for a couple of hours. See, there has to be some benefits to this stupidly hot weather we're having at the moment.

Giboulees revisited

My family are mad. Its true. I left the "scary dolly" as she has now been christened at the top of the stairs and when Wayne and Brooke came in last night the first thing that he said was "Oh no, what is that frightening looking voodoo doll thing doing here?" Brooke on the other hand, rushed up to it, cradled it in her arms and asked "Is this the baby that has come out of mummy's tummy?" Mad. Both of them!

Sorry Julia, no baby yet. I guessed yesterday as well and although I'm sure it won't be tooooo much longer (my midwife said after my appointment yesterday morning "see you next week - if you last that long") I think it may be an August baby after all. Ho hum. As for timezones, we'll argue that one when it comes to it - I hadn't thought of that one!!

Anyway, back to the knitting. Does anyone remember the bell sleeved Giboulees sweater that I started last winter? The sorry tale of the bag of knitting lost on the train? Well I can't remember if I ever told you that I found the bag at lost property a few months ago. Woo Hoo! Its just a shame that I was too pregnant to finish the sweater and that I'd already started to rip out the sleeves that I did have!

So now, these are the pieces that I have in front of me :

julgibback.jpg

Back - done.
Front - done to about an inch below armhole shaping
Sleeve 1 - done
Sleeve 2 - ripped out to about 2 inches from beginning.

I'm going to put the front back on needles, finish it off and then start the sleeve again. The long, long, raglan sleeves redesigned to fit my monkey arms. Sigh. Why did I rip it??

Tea anyone?

I joined Alison's tea party recently - not to make the knitted tea set but because I had plans to make some rag dolls who would be the perfect tea party guests.

If you remember the photos of Brooke's trousers from last week, she is holding a beautiful bridesmaid rag doll that mum made for her last year (the doll is wearing a dress and sash made out of the same fabric as Brooke's bridesmaid dress as well as knickers made out of samples of Wayne and dad's waistcoats - how cute is that?)

So, I decided to use my mum's basic template and making a couple of changes to it use it to try and make a doll of my own. I traced around Brooke's doll, made the head a little smaller and the body a bit longer and voila, the 2nd generation of Rycroft (Allman!) rag dolls is born..

ragdoll1.jpg ragdoll2.jpg

I decided against giving her a face as she is a reversible dolly, it was either no face or 2 faces! I also didn't spend too much time or effort making clothes for her (the seemingly hundreds of naked dolls in our house persuaded me that would be a waste of time) but to spare a little of her modesty I gave her a simple tie around denim skirt. Bets anyone as to how long that stays on her when Brooke gets hold?

This was fun to make, I learned how to sew non straight edges on my sewing machine (the hair attached to each side of her head like that is hiding a few odd seams though!) and I like the way she looks in half Amy Butler Gypsy caravan fabric and half Rowan plain orange.

So would you invite her to your tea party?

Winnie the Pooh

When I was pregnant with Brooke I disliked Winnie the Pooh with a vengence. Seriously, I couldn't stand the silly little fat bear. I have no idea why I felt so anti Pooh but I did. I was determined that my child would not have any Winnie the Pooh toys / clothes etc and this determination lasted a good few months until someone bought her Winnie merchandise for her first Christmas and its kind of grown since then.

These days, I'm neither here nor there when it comes to Pooh. So it may surprise you that the cot quilt I finished making today looks a little something like this :

poohbearquilt.jpg

At least one side does. The other side is made up of cute little patchwork elephants - a bit Elmer like really - that are walking in what appears to be the wrong direction. This is because I wanted to use up stash material for the backing and not spend any more than I had to on the quilt. The Winnie the Pooh panel cost £5, the wadding £1 and the elephant material about £2. Nice and reasonable quilt I think!

The reason that I finished this off in such a hurry was that I needed the spare wadding for this. Excuse the brain leakage, she will be fixed tomorrow!

Something to show for it..

Its Friday! The end of my first full week of maternity leave and I don't have that much to show for it! I have to post my book project off on Monday so I'll be working on that over the weekend to iron out the last few little quirks. Then from Monday this is my list of knitting projects that I'll be working on :

Gypsy for Jenna. The original one went to mum, or at least in theory it did. It was last seen being worn by my sister with the promise that she would give it to mum when she got home, as long as I made one for her. So I'll be casting on with some cream wool probably over the weekend sometime.

Onde tunic. Poor, sad, neglected Onde tunic. I really must pick this up and finish it before the weather is too miserable for Brooke to wear it. I don't know what the mental block is with the 2nd side, I really enjoyed watching the fade etc on the first piece so I'm sure when I get back into it this one will fly by.

Wigwam poncho. I haven't mentioned this one before have I? I've been working on a short poncho in Colinette Wigwam, I've nearly finished the first piece and I'm not totally sure how its going to turn out but its fun to knit. Here's a sneaky preview of the colourway.

Sewing wise I have a bag and a cot duvet all cut out, basted and ready to go. Shouldn't take too long to finish those off over the weekend.

ruffletrousers.jpg

I've been slowly using up some of the denim that was left over from the long skirt I made recently, and these trousers were the first experiment. It wasn't 100% successful but I'll be trying again for sure. The ruffles on the bottom were a bit of a nightmare, I folded the strip of material to size and pinned it to the bottom of the legs before attempting to sew it on. I went the wrong way on the first leg so that I was approaching each ruffle head on and the fabric got a bit crumpled. I turned the fabric around for the 2nd leg and sewing the right way over the ruffles made it much easier. Doh! That means that one leg is more ruffley than the other. See? The top one is the bad ruffle and the bottom one is the good ruffle. The difference is less obvious from the front, however, I may unpick and re-ruffle the first one over the weekend.

Then there is the pocket. I'm not convinced about the placement, size etc but Brooke desperately wanted a flower pocket and she has already filled it with little toys and stickers so I guess if she likes it then I should be happy. The ruffle and pocket were leftover pieces of Amy Butler fabric fat quarter from the 3 fabric tote I made recently, I love the colours.

Just because we all know what a ham Brooke is turning into in front of the camera, there are some more snaps below :

One of her dancing :

rufflesdance.jpg

Hugging the bridesmaid doll that my mum made for her :

rufflehug.jpg

And finally a random scary face for no reason other than she likes to pull this face and I think it is funny!

The power of sleep

I've been making the most of the last couple of weeks, with Wayne at work, Brooke still in nursery until the end of July and the baby safely tucked away for the time being I'm getting so much time to myself!

I'm making sure that I get the balance between rest and doing things that I'm not going to be able to do as much for a long while just right. For example, yesterday I get home from dropping Brooke off at nursery and I'm exhausted with the heat so I lie down on the sofa for a few minutes. 3 hours later I wake up and wonder why I'm so hungry - that would be because its now lunchtime.

So I turn on the TV (lunchtime is maternity programmes back to back for 2 hours, woo hoo!), make a sandwich and sit down with my book project knitting. 2 hours later I've finished the piece I was working on and watched 4 couples go through pregnancy and have their babies. That's my fix for the day.

What to do next? Its only 2pm and I have a few hours before Wayne and Brooke will be home, what shall I do? I finally decide to make dinner (lasagne) as I'm going to the hairdressers later for a much needed cut and blow dry. By cooking now Wayne and Brooke will be able to come in and eat and HOPEFULLY save some for me for when I get back. Then its a choice between some time on the sewing machine, packing up some more of the house in preparation for the big move (Brooke's room and the laundry closet are both on my list of places to pack this week), or more knitting..

In the end I decide to sew up the couple of projects that are cut out and waiting for me and then, shock / horror, go back to bed for an hour. I know, a 3 hour nap this morning should have been enough for me but I don't sleep well at night as that is the baby's active time and I know that in a few weeks I'll be needing all the reserves of sleep I can get so I nap until its time to walk up the road for my hair cut..

Compare this with an average day for me a couple of weeks after the baby is born. Brooke will be home from nursery and with me and baby full time. Wayne gets 3 weeks off work but then it will be back to the normal routine for him. Me? I'll be going from full time career woman who gets to knit on the train, go to lunch with friends and gossip over tea and chocolate with colleagues to full time mum at home in a new house / new area with newborn and 4 year old. Guess how much knitting / sewing / look after Kerrie time there is going to be?

So I'm fitting it all in now, and loving every minute of it!

Talking of fitting it all in, I've been editing a lot of the MagKnits patterns that have been submitted. A couple weren't what I was expecting and there are a couple of designers who haven't sent through their submissions yet or given me an update so it looks like I have some space in the magazine. If you have a completed design that you'd like to submit for the autumn / winter MagKnits which goes out at the end of August I'd love to see the details! Just email editorATmagknitsDOTcom as soon as possible. Thanks!

Gypsy = finito

You guessed that my impatient self wouldn't want to either learn to crochet or wait a couple of weeks before seeing a finished Gypsy didn't you? So here she is, blocked and fringed and ready to wear.

gypsyon.jpg

I wasn't sure if I'd actually wear a shawl but I think that I might. If not, I've had plenty of people fall in love with her so I'm sure I could find a good home. I need to make one for mum without the fringe next I think..

You can see more of the detail in this photo when it is laid out on the cream sofa. I used 3.75 mm needles for this and only 4 full skeins of Koigu. Which is lucky really because although I KNOW I have 5 of them I can't find the last one. I've now packed up my whole yarn stash apart from one or 2 carrier bags full that have to last me until September and I dont remember seeing it anywhere. I'm sure it will turn up.

Mistakes? Oh yes. I can see them now Gypsy is blocked and ready to wear but I'm not going to lose sleep over them and you shouldn't either. This was a nice easy shawl to make, it took me just over a week from start to finish and I'll definitely be wearing more of them. The only part I didn't enjoy? The fringe. B.O.R.I.N.G.

I took these photos with the self timer option on my camera. I've never really tried this before and had a bit of fun, trust me there were lots of photos that were blurred as I was moving when the camera went off and this one keeps making me laugh. I had to make sure I was going to stand in the right place when I actually had the shawl on didn't I? Its the kind of photo that if you just saw it without any explanation, it would look very strange indeed!

Finally, I thought that this was an alternative to the standard way to wear a shawl. It makes a pretty good bump cover, don't you think? I can't remember whose site I first saw a picture like this on, but I like it!

You chicks don't even know the name of my band.

I've got that song stuck in my head this morning, the Eminem one that the title came from. Its all I can think of so it will have to do this morning!

We picked Brooke up from mum and dad's at the weekend, she went on holiday with them last week so we didn't see her from Tuesday through to Saturday. I think we missed her more than she missed us, the zoo, seaside, woods and swimming pool were a pretty good mum and dad distraction. She has been hilarious since we got home with her, memorable quotes so far are :

After staring at Wayne's mouth for ages. "Daddy, why can't you take your teeth out like grandad can, he's really clever!" (sorry dad!)

When looking at the bowl of cereal I gave her for breakfast "Oh well, no more chocolate for breakfast. Holiday is over now!"

I took Gypsy with us to leave for mum to crochet the edging, and then managed to bring it straight home with me! So now I either need to learn to crochet, put the fringe straight onto the shawl or wait a couple of weeks until we see mum and dad again. Not sure which one I'll choose but I dont think I'm in the mood to learn to crochet at the moment!

I've also nearly finished the Manos tank, that should be blocked tonight I think. Apart from that, nothing is really new. I have a pile of sewing to do today / tomorrow that I've cut all the pieces out for so there may be something more interesting to show you later on in the week. For now, its too hot and I'm too tired to do much other than sit in front of the fan and drink diet Dr Pepper. Its my latest fad!

The Friday few

So, I didn't manage to post yesterday as I was so busy trying to get the last pieces done on my work project which is due to end today. I'm designing a web site for our department which has recently merged with a few other departments, its been fun but yesterday was spent making about 200 buttons and banners. I never want to see Photoshop again!

2 people emailed me asking if I was having the baby - nope. I'm afraid not. After next weekend I'll be ready, I just need a few days next week to sort out a couple more things!

Knitting wise I'm working on 2 projects that are being submitted to books that will be published next year. Look at the gorgeous colours I get to use in this one, I love it.

I've also decided to start some projects that I'll be able to wear soon and I couldn't resist casting on with some Manos that I traded with Monica and Lynette and designing a tank. I've finished the back already and should get the front done in the next few days. I'm in love with this yarn!

manostank.jpg

This is 3x1 rib pre blocking all scrunched up and gorgeous!

Finally, take a look at this funky fabric that arrived from Mariko, I have no idea what to make with it but it has to be used for something cool and Brooke like. Any suggestions?

Warning. Politics below..

Yesterday was local election day in our London borough. There have been a lot of very worried people around here for the last few weeks concerned that the British National Party (BNP) were going to win the election. (Note, I'm not linking to any websites - you can go and find it if you want to)

We've been subject to campaign sheets from the BNP that are very carefully worded (and imply racism without actually using the words) as well as whole newspapers dedicated to keeping the BNP out of power in this area. The scariest leaflet of all was from ALL OF THE OTHER parties on one page with photos and signatures presenting a united front against the BNP. A conversation with one of the campaigners on my doorstep went along the lines of "at this stage we don't mind if you don't vote for us, just please don't vote for them"

While I found it hard to take the threat seriously (who really believes that a party closely linked with racism will get control of their area) the fact that the other political parties were concerned worried me. Our area has a fairly poor reputation although after living here for 4 years we've never had any problems, our neighbours are fantastic.

I answered the door to the BNP canvassing twice. I had planned to quiz them on their politics, ask them how they felt about being accused of racists and generally see what they had to say for themselves. When it came down to it, as soon as they launched into their rant about how they were going to "clean up" the borough and stop some of the problems of neighboring boroughs affecting us (our borough has a much higher percentage of white people than neighbouring boroughs) I just said "I don't want to listen to you, I have nothing to say" and shut the door. The 2nd time they asked if they could count on my vote and I just said "definitely not" and shut the door again.

I felt like I should have stood up and questioned them more but at the end of the day perhaps its best that I just ignored them. Not very dignified for an 8 months pregnant woman to be chasing local politicians down the street screaming at them is it?

So, Wayne and I walked up the road and voted last night. I'm not telling you who I voted for but you can guess who I didn't vote for right? The results are now in. Labour won the majority with the BNP a very close second. Over a third of all votes were for them. How scary is that? Despite all the press recently about them, front page of tabloids yesterday dedicated to the Bloody Nasty People and under cover documentaries showing them boasting about racial attacks and inciting racial violence, 1/3rd of our neighbours still voted for them. Scary. I'm sure they will be claiming this as a big victory even though they didn't win.

Part of me is glad that we are moving away soon although I know that is the wrong attitude. The problem is still there even if we are not directly affected by it. It's making me feel really odd at the moment.

Blocking..

unblockedgypsy.jpg

Unblocked Gypsy resting on the sofa

Woo Hoo - Gypsy is all knitted and blocking as we speak. I was so ready to give up yesterday, 4 rows from the end I was sick and tired of looking at the shawl but I persevered and an hour later bound off the last stitch. I used EXACTLY 3 skeins in the knitting of this shawl, down to the last few inches. I'm going to allow one skein for the fringe and that's still bringing me in under the amount stated in the pattern. Strange. I guess it was close though, if the fringe does take a whole skein I would be left with only a few inches. My advice, buy 5 skeins and then have fun with the leftovers instead of leaving it so close!!

Gypsy and I will be visiting mum on Saturday and asking her very nicely to crochet the edging for me before I add the fringe. I really need to learn how to crochet don't I?

This was a really fun knit, it has restored my lace confidence which was shattered by Charlotte. I see lots more Gypsys in the future, made from Koigu and other yarns..

I'm excited about all of the baby guesses, I should add mine to the pot shouldn't I? I think it will be a girl, born on July 27th (I'm with Julia on that one!), weighing 7 pounds 10 and measuring 23 inches.

Voting time

35weeks.jpg

The bump at 35 weeks. (we have a real photo - not digital - taken in the exact same spot in our house with me wearing the exact same clothes - too stingy to buy new maternity clothes this time around - only the real one was taken at 37 weeks. Its fun to compare the 2!)

I thought we should have a little sweepstake on the details of this baby, what do you think? I'm offering a prize of a bag of Colinette and Phildar yarns to whoever gets the answers to all 4 of the following questions correct.

Boy or girl?
Date born (due on 12th August)
Weight
Length

Now, I know that's a really tough one so I'm not expecting anyone to guess all 4. So eveyone who gets the sex right will go through to the final. Then I'll look at the date chosen, if more than one person gets that right then we'll go down to weight and finally length.

I'll give you some Brooke comparisons, she was 10 days early, weighed 7 pounds 11 ounces and was 22.5 inches long.

What do you think? Leave me a comment or email me, the closing date is the day that the baby is due so with 4 weeks to go you don't have that much time - depending on whether you think early or late!

Gypsy update

After a day working from home waiting for approval to actually do anything and knitting on Gypsy I'm up to row 150! Just about to quit for the day and go and get dinner ready for Wayne and Brooke who will be home shortly.

Gypsy is getting so heavy to hold now, I'm using straight needles but not for want of trying to put her on circulars. I got gauge with 3.75mm needles instead of 3mm which is unusual for me as I usually have to go down a size. I started on straights and planned to swap to circs somewhere around row 100. For some strange reason I went out and bought 60cm circs which were even shorter than my 2 straight needles. I'm so close to the end now I'm going to stick with what I've got.

So, 7 more lace rows and 7 more purl rows. Can I finish this tomorrow is the big question? Depends how long I have to hang around waiting for feedback on my work project I guess..

Phildar cardigan #2

This was such a nice quick knit that I should really have finished it on Saturday if I hadn't been having such fun playing with Gypsy. In the end I went shopping for buttons yesterday and attached them last night.

fishycardi.jpg

I decided to leave the top button off as the neck seemed to come out quite small. I don't like clothes that are buttoned up tightly to my neck so I'm guessing the baby wouldn't either. I left the buttonhole and have one spare purple fishy button so when baby is born I can try the cardigan on and decide what to do from there.. I also decided not to make the pockets, I don't think a 3 month old will have that much to put in them and didn't want to encourage Brooke to fill them with tissues or small toys!

Gypsy is coming along well, I'm up to row 130 now so only 34 more to go!

Denim skirt

Jen persuaded me to buy some denim fabric from John Lewis the other day, (not that I took much persuading!) it was about 1.6 metres wide and I bought 1 metre of it. In fact, all I wanted was the strip around the bottom which had the animal decorations on but I'm finding a good use for the rest of it, more about that next week.

denimskirt2.jpg

This simple denim skirt was made from the strip at the bottom with the animals. How cute? Brooke really likes it as well which is great. I left a short split of about 3 inches up the back but didn't taken into account how difficult she would find climbing and running in the skirt. Her other long skirt in this style is jersey which is obviously more stretchy than denim. If it annoys her too much I'll shorten it to about knee length and sew up the split at the back.

Knitting wise, I have finished both sleeves for the little cardigan and I'm up to row 110 of Gypsy. It would be nice to think that the cardigan will be done by Monday although you never can tell what the weekends are going to throw at you. Especially now!

A couple more photos below..

New baby cardigan

I started this new little Phildar baby cardigan (2nd one up from the bottom, shown in green) on Tuesday, its a more classic design than the hooded jacket, with 1x1 ribbing around the bottom, picked up stitches around the neck to make a little collar and button bands knitted afterwards and seamed on.

The pattern uses some techniques such as cute litle pockets sewn on at a jaunty angle and contrast colour for the first couple of rows of rib to bring the design up to date, but I'm thinking I may miss these out and leave it as a simple little cardigan.

I'm using Phildar Pegase yarn which is the yarn called for in the pattern, I happened to find 3 balls of it that I thought I'd given away when I was sorting through some yarn at the weekend. Why not use it, I thought?

backpegcard.jpg

A couple of hours later and here we are. Back completed and sleeves cast on. This is my knitting when chatting with Wayne or keeping half an eye on Brooke. Now that Gypsy has reached the lacy stages she is a knit while on my own in peace and quiet project. Still, I'm hoping to get her finished in the next week or so.

I'm still not knitting as much as I used to, think its a combination of having so much fun with my sewing machine and the warm weather that is inspiring me to reach for other hobbies. I still seem to have 2 or 3 projects on the needles so its not as though I've stopped completely or anything. Jen and I had a fun day the other day trawling around the fabric district in Soho looking at all the fabric shops. Many of them were too fancy and well over our budget (I don't care how nice a fabric is I don't want to spend £50 per metre on it) but I did get a few nice things from John Lewis. More on those later on..

Gypsy

Remember how I mentioned last week that I ordered the Gypsy pattern from Threadbear? Well, on Saturday evening I decided to cast on for it. By Sunday evening I had knit 80 rows. By yesterday evening, I had finished the 100 row stocking stitch with lace border piece.

See how pretty it looks? This photo was taken at 92 rows.

gypsy92.jpg

I'm going to stand up and say this now though with the knowledge that I may well be back next week eating humble pie. The pattern calls for 5 skeins of Koigu in the same colourway. There are 164 rows in the pattern. After knititng 100 of them I had only used approx 1 skein of yarn. Now I do understand that the rows are getting longer and that the lacy bit will take more yarn than plain stocking stitch but at this point I can't imagine how I'm ever going to use another 4 skeins of yarn.

I'm about on gauge so that's not the problem. Is it the fringe? Does that take a whole skein? More or less? All you Charlotte ladies, how much yarn did the fringe take? My prediction is that the shawl will take 3 skeins to knit with a 4th skein going on fringe. Then I'll have one spare to make a small scarf or something out of..

As I said, quite prepared to eat humble pie on that one if I need to though.

20 second knitalong est fini

Finally I managed to find the missing sleeve and get this jacket across the finishing line! Well, actually my little helper found it when I sent her under the bed searching for it on Sunday morning. The last time I remembered seeing it was when the whole jacket was laid out on the bed the other day. Brooke emerged after a few minutes with the sleeve and a doll that we hadn't seen for a while!

20second.jpg

I loved making this jacket and plan to make more when I know what flavour baby we have. Without the hood and patch it would make a beautiful simple cardigan. All the finishing nearly finished me, I don't really enjoy blanket stitch and I'm sure you'll all notice that the stitches on the sleeves are different sizes. I just can't bear the thought of going back and doing it again right now!

Especially for froggy, here is a button closeup. Aren't they cute? I thought they suited the colour of the jacket well. I love toggle buttons! I used cotton yarn instead of the Phildar yarn that the pattern called for and the elephant patch on the back was done in Rowan Cotton Glace.

lepatch.jpg

I know Alison has just about finished her little jacket as well, it was such fun to do this mini knitalong together. She chose the giraffe patch for the back of her one, I thought I'd be different and make the elephant.

So, what to make next for the baby?

So near and yet so far

I chose to sleep for 12 hours last night instead of finishing the hooded jacket. It was definitely the right choice to make. Today is my last day in the office and if I make it to 5pm I'll be impressed. I'm just so tired at the moment!

Updates since this picture, hood - knitted and attached. Blanket stitch on button band and hood - finished. Sleeve - still not found.

Completed piccies on Monday, I promise..

Patchwork cover

Thanks for all the nice comments about the bags, the patterns are fairly straightforward, especially for the drawstring bag. I'm definitely at beginner level when it comes to sewing patterns so I think these are good ones to start with. The pattern pieces are really large and clear which makes it easy to understand.

Sewing, sewing and more sewing. I swear this blog used to be about knitting, didn't it? Don't worry - you should have knitting content soon. I hope to get the 20 second knitalong jacket done tonight so you should see that tomorrow. (should, hope and should. Hmmm, I'm not very convincing am I?!)

For today though, we have the completed baby patchwork cover. I decided not to quilt this as it would be too thick for a new baby. Instead I just backed the patchwork with some lovely blue fleece. Its so soft! When we know whether the baby is a girl or boy I'll be making curtains, cot bumper and duvet all to match. Woo Hoo! You can see the top of the blanket in more detail in this picture.

It isn't quite big enough for Brooke but she wanted to snuggle under it anyway, she is very cross that it is not pink - I had to promise that if the baby is a girl I'll add some pink to it somehow!
