Its time to take a wee blog break. I'm not sure for how long, there are a few things that I need to sort out before I can answer that question. The archives here will stay up for now and I'm sure I'll be back at some point but for now you can email me at kerrie AT hipknits DOT co DOT uk or check out the HipKnits Blog which will be updated most days.

Saga

Want to hear a long and complicated tale of SCARY customer service from one of the biggest stores in the UK?

We ordered 2 pink kids wardobes at the end of March. When they arrived Wayne put the first one together before realising that the piece of wood for the back was missing from both wardrobes. He rang the customer service team who told him that they were unable to send us the parts that we needed as they didnt have the contact details of the suppliers and weren't allowed to contact them. The only solution that they could offer was for us to take the wardrobe apart, tie the pieces together with brown paper and packing tape (as we had thrown the packaging away) and it would be collected for a refund.

Wayne spent almost an hour on the phone telling them that he was not going to take the whole wardrobe down and that all we wanted was 2 pieces of board for the back of the wardrobes. The next day we managed to speak to someone else in the customer service team who agreed to refund us a portion of cost of the wardrobes so that we could go out and buy our own piece of wood for the back. So we did and it worked just fine.

Then the next night Wayne went to put on the doors and realised that the hinges in the box were the wrong type so the door wouldn't go on. Back on the phone to customer services who explained that they weren't able to contact the suppliers to get spare parts and again suggested that we might like to take the whole wardrobe apart and return it. Again, we pointed out that this was not an option. We actually wanted the wardbrobes and not a refund and could they please just send us the right hinges. Apparantly not.

We contacted the manufacturers ourselves and they agreed to send us out new hinges. We shouldn't have had to do this but it seemed the best way to get anything done.

A couple of days later the hinges arrived and the doors were put on. Hurray! Then as Wayne was putting the drawers together he noticed that the front drawer panels for one of the wardrobes were missing their pre drilled holes. So we now have one wardrobe complete and one with missing drawers.

By this time we were used to just going straight to the manufacturers and missing out the store where we bought the wardrobes. We sent the manufactures photos of the drawer fronts without pre drilled holes and they agreed to send out 2 replacements. A week later a package arrived with 1 pink drawer front with pre drilled holes. Woo Hoo, now we have a wardbroe with one drawer. Progress.. We contacted them again and asked them to please send the other one.

Another week passed and yesterday a box arrived with 2 drawer fronts instead of 1. Oh, and they were blue. Not pink.

I think we have just about given up all hope of every getting the wardrobe fnished. We're currently trying to persuade Brooke that a pink wardrobe with blue drawers would be cool but she is not buying it. So back to the manufacturers we will go and ask for ONE PINK DRAWER FRONT please.

What do you reckon? A lot of trouble for 2 wardrobes dont you think! Granted they refunded us the cost of the wardrobes but that doesn't help the fact that over 2 months after we placed the order we are STILL waiting for all the parts.
